Spectrum Papyros shelf paper is glass fusing and you can easily cut it with scissors or fold and tear it to the desired size. Papyros kiln shelf paper stands up to full fusing without charring and is more durable for multiple firings than other kiln shelf products. Paypyro is a heat resistant, lightweight ceramic impregnated paper, which provides an excellent separation between the kiln shelf and the glass in kiln firing applications up to 1600 degrees. Imparts a fine matte texture to fused glass pieces. IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTE: ALWAYS wear a mask when using thin fire and especially when cleaning it up after firing it in your kiln because you do not want to breath in the ceramic dust!. Papyros Use & Clean Up 
1. Using a common cooking utensil: Spatula

2. Using a Shop Vac Because of its sturdy composition, PAPYROS provides excellent glass/kiln shelf separation on the first use, and frequently in subsequent firings, as well. How long post-fired PAPYROS retains its integrity depends on the type of glass used on the project underside (Opal vs. Transparent), the nature of the project (volume/construction), as well as the final fusing temperature (degree of glass movement in the kiln).  

Using Papyros with specific fusible glass:

Transparent Glass Base   With transparent glasses against the paper, your finished project can often lift cleanly away from the papered shelf, leaving the paper weakened, but intact. By carefully lifting the glass project off of the PAPYROS lined shelf, you may find that you can achieve more than one firing from a piece of PAPYROS.

Opal Glass Base  Because of their more tacky nature, opals and opal-containing glasses tend to stick more to the paper as the hot glass expands and contracts — especially in a full fuse. When this happens, it won’t affect your project, but you will most likely need to replace the paper before firing on the shelf again. A good rule of thumb: if there is a tear or hole in the sheet, then you will need to use a new sheet for your next project.
